We are here to discover the different beliefs and opinions that have given rise to many myths about soap. Keeping us healthy and hygienic, soap is one of the key products we use in our daily lives. With time, different types of soaps have been introduced in the market. People are now moving away from bars of soap towards soap dispensers which many believe to be more hygienic. Super Power Soap is here to discuss 5 of those myths!

#1 Soaps Dry Out Your Skin

Do soaps make your skin dryer? Actually, it is the person’s skin sensitivity that makes the skin feel dry. Over time, people have developed a misconception that soaps actually make the skin more dry and flaky. This is false, as there are many products out there such as moisturizers and oils for people specifically with dry skin!

#2 Soap Bars Are Less Hygienic

The debate is still on and it is important to understand that bar soap does not make you less hygienic. In fact, soap bars are more ecological than liquid soaps. Bars of soap are often thought of as less hygienic than liquid body washes because they do not have the same amount of cleaning agents as other hygiene products. In truth, bars of soap can have ingredients such as glycerin, lactic acid, and vitamin E that are known to be good for the skin and often used in many moisturizers in addition to natural oils like coconut oil or olive oil.

#3 Antibacterial Soaps Are Better Than Regular Soaps

Antibacterial soap has been advertised to give you cleaner hands, but is it true? Ultimately, a study found that there was no significant difference in levels of bacteria found on hands after washing with antibacterial or regular soap. This means that we do not need to use antibacterial soaps for hand washing because there is no benefit over regular soaps.

# 4 Lye Found in Soap is Harsh

Lye, soap’s magical ingredient is good for your skin. It has been used for   centuries to create soap in a process called saponification. Lye is composed of sodium hydroxide and potash (potassium hydroxide), and is actually not harmful at all. The reason why lye soap is termed as “harsh” could be because people who are not used to the abrasiveness of the lather might   experience discomfort.

Lye  soap can be a great option for people with sensitive skin. It is made with pure ingredients that do not cause irritation or strip away oils from your skin. Some People associate harshness with lye soap because it produces a lot of suds and an abundance of bubbles when washing.

#5 Natural Soap Does Not Lather That Well

Natural soaps are made from oils, fats, and saponified plant or animal products. They are also free of preservatives and synthetic ingredients. This type of soap, contrary to popular belief, can create a good lather and is just as effective as other types of soap at removing dirt.
